HANNOVER, Germany — BAIC FOTON has outlined an expanded strategy for the European market, combining international growth, new-energy vehicles, intelligent technologies and deeper local operations as the commercial vehicle manufacturer seeks to strengthen its position globally.

Speaking during the Media Day press conference at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026, BAIC FOTON Executive Vice President Liu Xuguang presented the company’s European roadmap, emphasizing localized products and services alongside the development of cleaner and smarter commercial transportation solutions.

Expanding a Global Commercial Vehicle Business

Founded in 1996, BAIC FOTON now employs more than 30,000 people and operates 23 smart manufacturing plants in China, together with 32 production facilities overseas.

The company says it has ranked first in commercial vehicle sales in China for 21 consecutive years and has led China’s commercial vehicle exports for 15 consecutive years.

Its international strategy is built around what it calls the “Three Comprehensives”—internationalization, new-energy transformation and intelligent development.

For overseas markets, the company plans to combine locally adapted products with integrated transportation and energy solutions, while working with local partners to strengthen its operations in individual markets.

BAIC FOTON’s product portfolio spans heavy- and light-duty trucks, vans, pickups, buses and special-purpose vehicles. Its powertrain offerings include conventional fuel systems as well as battery-electric, hybrid and hydrogen technologies.

Within the group’s broader portfolio, FOTON focuses on premium commercial vehicles, while FORLAND targets high-volume light and mini commercial vehicles. CAVAN, meanwhile, is developing mobility solutions centered on green energy technologies.

New-Energy Technologies for European Transport

Europe represents an important market for BAIC FOTON’s new-energy strategy.

The company plans to prioritize battery-electric, hybrid and hydrogen-powered technologies across both passenger and freight transportation applications.

Among the technologies being introduced is CAVAN’s electric van, which is built on a dedicated battery-electric platform designed specifically for efficient urban distribution. The architecture is intended to improve space utilization while reducing energy consumption.

BAIC FOTON says its dedicated new-energy platforms allow vehicle specifications to be adapted to different routes, payload requirements and operating cycles.

For European fleet operators, this approach is intended to provide solutions across a range of applications, from urban delivery and regional distribution to long-distance transportation and passenger services.

The company also sees these technologies as supporting the transition toward lower-carbon fleet operations while improving overall fleet efficiency.

Building a Long-Term European Presence

BAIC FOTON currently has a presence in nearly 20 European markets, supported by more than 300 service outlets.

The company plans to expand further across key European markets and establish local assembly operations by 2028.

A dedicated European technical center is already supporting market research, product planning and technical services. The facility is also expected to play a role in ensuring BAIC FOTON vehicles meet European Union regulations and respond to the requirements of local customers.

The company’s strategy goes beyond vehicle manufacturing.

BAIC FOTON is developing an integrated energy and mobility ecosystem covering solar power, energy storage, charging infrastructure, vehicle-to-grid services and load testing.

As part of that effort, the company plans to deploy at least 5,000 charging terminals across Europe and develop partnerships covering vehicle leasing, fleet management and used commercial vehicles.

From Vehicle Sales to an Integrated Mobility Ecosystem

BAIC FOTON’s European strategy reflects a broader shift in the commercial vehicle industry, where manufacturers are increasingly looking beyond the vehicle itself toward charging, energy management, fleet services and lifecycle support.

By combining new-energy powertrains with localized production, technical support and partnerships, BAIC FOTON aims to establish a more comprehensive presence in Europe.

The company says the strategy will allow it to respond more closely to local transportation requirements while supporting European customers as they transition toward cleaner and increasingly intelligent commercial mobility.

HONG KONG — CNN has completed the first edition of CNN Academy in Japan, bringing an intensive journalism and multimedia training program to Tokyo as the organization expands its efforts to prepare emerging storytellers for an increasingly digital and AI-driven media environment.

The Japan program combined online learning with an intensive, five-day workshop designed to give participants practical experience in producing journalism for multiple platforms.

The curriculum placed particular emphasis on digital storytelling and the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in news production.

Participants began with virtual coursework through CNN’s dedicated e-learning platform, exploring subjects including journalism ethics, digital storytelling and the responsible use of AI in newsroom environments.

The online component was followed by an immersive workshop in Tokyo, where participants applied the concepts through practical exercises and collaborative projects.

Five Days of Hands-On Journalism Training

The in-person portion of the program was hosted at Sophia University in Tokyo.

Participants worked with CNN international correspondent Hanako Montgomery, CNN producer Junko Ogura, mobile storytelling specialist Glen Mulcahy, and media executive David Ford.

The instructors brought experience spanning international reporting, production, mobile journalism and media leadership to the program.

During the five-day workshop, participants took part in interactive sessions and masterclasses covering areas such as:

Mobile journalism

Scriptwriting

Digital-first storytelling

AI-supported newsroom workflows

Multiplatform content production

Journalism and storytelling ethics

The program was structured to simulate a modern digital newsroom, giving participants an opportunity to work under conditions that reflect the demands of contemporary multimedia journalism.

The training culminated in the production of polished multiplatform projects, allowing participants to demonstrate the skills developed throughout the week.

Preparing Storytellers for an AI-Driven Media Landscape

The expansion into Japan reflects the changing requirements facing journalists and media creators.

AI is increasingly becoming part of newsroom workflows, from research and production to content development and distribution. At the same time, journalists need to maintain editorial judgment, accuracy and ethical standards when incorporating new technologies.

CNN Academy’s hybrid model combines digital coursework with face-to-face instruction, giving participants access to both structured learning resources and experienced media professionals.

Alireza Hajihosseini, Director of CNN Academy and Deputy Bureau Chief of CNN’s Abu Dhabi production hub, said:

“CNN Academy Tokyo reflects CNN’s ongoing commitment to equipping and empowering tomorrow’s journalists. Through virtual training and an in-person workshop in Tokyo, the program tapped into our experienced storytellers to prepare the next generation for multi-platform reporting in the age of AI. The participants were exceptional throughout the week, demonstrating the essential skills needed to connect with audiences everywhere.”

Strengthening Partnerships Through Education

CNN Academy was launched in 2020 and has since worked with educational, creative and media organizations to combine CNN’s international journalism experience with academic and professional learning environments.

The program’s global expansion includes a combination of online resources, digital courses, practical exercises and workshops led by experienced industry professionals.

The Japan edition was delivered with the support of Sophia University, providing a local academic setting for the five-day training program.

BEIJING, China — As businesses across Greater China navigate a changing sustainability and ESG reporting environment, a fundamental question is gaining importance: can efforts to address social and environmental challenges become a source of sustainable commercial value?

A new book from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) explores that question, proposing a model in which social impact is incorporated directly into the way companies create and capture value.

Turning Business Responsibility Into Business Strategy

Business for Good: The Power to Create Change, written by Rui (Juliet) Zhu, Professor of Marketing and Director of CKGSB’s Research Department on ESG and Social Innovation, presents the concept of Business for Good as an approach that connects an organization’s existing strengths with opportunities to create social value.

Rather than positioning corporate responsibility as an activity that takes place after a company has generated profits, the book argues that businesses can incorporate solutions to real-world social problems into their core operations.

The approach is based on Professor Zhu’s decade of teaching and research at CKGSB and draws on more than 2,300 alumni projects carried out within their respective companies.

The book translates that research into two practical frameworks.

The Business for Good Triangle Theory combines three elements: a co-benefit philosophy, institutional safeguards and strategic integration.

The accompanying Action Map identifies 35 potential entry points across environmental, social and governance areas, providing organizations of different sizes with possible starting points for developing their own business-for-good initiatives.

Moving Beyond ESG Compliance

For companies, the distinction between compliance and value creation is central to the book’s argument.

ESG reporting requirements can establish what businesses need to disclose, but disclosure alone does not necessarily determine how sustainability becomes embedded in business strategy.

“Business for Good is not about choosing between profit and purpose, but about integrating social value into what a company already does well, so that solving real problems can also create commercial value. The challenge for companies today is to move beyond compliance and build systems in which doing good becomes part of how the business succeeds,” noted Professor Zhu.

The book therefore presents sustainability not simply as an external obligation, but as something that can be incorporated into products, operations, customer relationships and broader business models.

Lessons From Chinese and Global Companies

The book also provides international readers with examples of business-for-good practices emerging from China, a perspective that remains relatively less represented in English-language ESG literature.

Zhu examines both international and Chinese businesses, including Patagonia and LEGO, alongside Chinese companies such as Haidilao and recommerce platform ATRENEW.

Rather than presenting these companies solely as success stories, the book examines their experiences through examples of achievements, setbacks and strategic adjustments.

The underlying argument is that responsible business initiatives are more likely to endure when they are designed around the realities of how people actually behave.

Drawing on behavioral psychology, Zhu examines situations in which sustainability programs fail because they require people to consistently behave in ways that are inconvenient or inconsistent with existing habits.

Changing the design of the system, she argues, can make responsible behavior easier to choose and maintain.

From Purpose to Practical Implementation

The Business for Good approach ultimately focuses on the connection between purpose and execution.

For organizations beginning their ESG or social-impact journey, the frameworks in the book are intended to provide practical ways to identify where social value can intersect with existing capabilities and commercial activities.

That could allow companies to

DURHAM, N.C. — Organizations operating in sports, live entertainment, government and major events are facing increasing demands to demonstrate that employees, contractors and other personnel entering controlled environments are properly trained, authorized and prepared for their assigned responsibilities.

Yet workforce induction and compliance processes are still frequently spread across disconnected documents, spreadsheets, emails, supplier databases and separate learning-management platforms.

Accredit Solutions, a global provider of identity, credentialing and workforce access technology, is addressing that challenge with the launch of Accredit Induct, a new operational-readiness solution designed to connect workforce training directly with credentialing and access decisions.

Turning Training Completion Into an Access Requirement

Traditional training systems can demonstrate that learning materials were delivered or that an individual completed a course. However, that information does not always translate into an immediate operational control.

An organization may know that an induction program has been assigned, for example, without having a simple way to determine whether a particular individual has completed every required step before receiving credentials or being granted access.

Accredit Induct is designed to close that gap.

Built on the Accredit Platform and operating within the company’s Accredit OS model, the solution allows organizations to establish role-specific requirements, deliver digital induction and compliance materials, monitor completion and make completion a prerequisite for credential approval or access.

The core principle is straightforward:

“no induction, no access.”

Rather than treating induction as an isolated learning activity, the platform connects it directly to a person’s identity, credential and access status.

Completion therefore becomes more than a record of training—it can become an operational requirement for entry.

Connecting Identity, Readiness and Credentialing

Accredit Induct is designed to give organizations a single workflow covering the requirements that personnel must meet before entering a controlled environment.

Organizations can use the system to:

Block credential issuance until required training has been completed.

Maintain a unified identity record across induction, credentialing and access.

Allocate requirements according to role, organization, event or credential category.

Monitor completion across employees, contractors, teams and suppliers in real time.

Manage training expiration dates, refresher requirements and recurring obligations.

Maintain auditable compliance documentation.

Quickly identify personnel who are fully ready, those with outstanding requirements and the actions still needed.

This approach is particularly relevant to environments where thousands of workers, contractors, suppliers and temporary personnel may need to complete different requirements before receiving access.

Making Workforce Readiness Operational

“Induction has too often been treated as a separate administrative exercise, but it shouldn’t sit separately from the access decision,” said Peder Berg, CEO of Accredit Solutions.

“Accredit Induct connects identity, readiness and credentialing in one workflow, so organizations can ensure the right requirements are met before access is approved.”

The platform is intended to help operations and security teams move beyond simply knowing whether training has been assigned or completed.

Instead, readiness can become directly connected to the authorization process.

“Knowing who is onsite is important,” Berg added. “Knowing they are trained, authorized and ready for their role is becoming just as critical.”

Designed for High-Pressure Operating Environments

For stadiums, major sporting events, entertainment venues, government operations and other complex environments, workforce access can involve multiple organizations and layers of responsibility.

Personnel may include permanent employees, temporary staff, contractors, vendors, volunteers, suppliers and specialist teams, each potentially subject to different training and compliance requirements.

By bringing induction, identity and credentialing into a connected workflow, Accredit Induct is designed to provide organizations with greater visibility over workforce readiness before personnel arrive onsite.

The system also creates an auditable record of compliance, helping organizations demonstrate that required processes were followed and that access decisions were based on defined requirements.

More information is available through Accredit Induct.

About Accredit Solutions

Accredit Solutions provides accreditation and access-management technology for organizations responsible for complex workforces, venues and controlled environments.

Its technology supports major events, sports organizations, government agencies, venues and critical infrastructure operators, helping operations and security leaders manage accreditation, access and workforce readiness through a connected platform.

As primary Western markets experience growing regulatory hurdles, power grid strain, and physical land limits, economic zone regimes present a pre-industrialized solution to meet the explosive demand for digital infrastructure.

The global data center market currently operates around 10,000 facilities worldwide, with total capacity projected to double within the next five years. However, traditional tech hubs are reaching critical capacity caps.

A global bottleneck creates a regional opening

In the United States, 30 states have passed measures restricting data center development due to public grid pushback and environmental considerations. Tier-1 regional hubs like Singapore have similarly faced physical and energy constraints, forcing global operators to seek alternative, high-growth destinations across the Asia Pacific region.

According to WTCA, this global supply bottleneck creates a direct opportunity for Philippine ecozone developers and operator hubs across key growth corridors like Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan, and Clark to capture high-value digital foreign direct investment (FDI).

With PEZA already hosting over 290 IT parks and specialized centers nationwide, the sector has emerged as a major economic pillar, attracting multi-billion-peso digital infrastructure pipelines from global hyperscalers. That footprint continues to grow. In July 2026, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Administrative Order 45, lifting a seven-year moratorium on new IT park and IT center applications in Metro Manila. Within days, five Metro Manila developments had applied for ecozone status, an early signal of how quickly developers are positioning themselves to capture the opportunity.

“Data centers make up essential infrastructure for artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital commerce, and the broader digital economy,” said Scott Wang, WTCA Vice President, Asia Pacific. “They also represent a rapidly growing real estate and investment opportunity. Free Zones that can provide the right combination of infrastructure, incentives, and investment support are exceptionally well-positioned to attract this global industry.”

A tri-ecosystem approach to de-risking investment

To bridge international capital with local sites, WTCA highlights a “tri-ecosystem” approach. By uniting the global access network and international credibility of the World Trade Center (WTC) brand with the fiscal incentives of economic zones and ready infrastructure, developers can de-risk hyperscale projects for international clients.

The three elements work together to sharpen returns as much as they reduce risk. The WTCA network connects developers directly to hyperscalers and capital sources, free zone incentives lower construction and equipment costs, and ready infrastructure shortens time to deployment. The WTC brand itself also carries a market premium, reflecting the added value international credibility brings to an investment.

The highest-value real estate play

For Philippine property leaders and ecozone operators, this shift marks a significant evolution in industrial real estate. Beyond traditional IT-BPO office spaces and standard logistics warehouses, data centers offer developers the highest value-added return per square meter.

During the recent WTC Free Zones webinar “Unlocking Data Center Investment: The Role of the WTCA network in Connecting Free Zones and Developers,” speakers discussed how Free Zones can position themselves as investment-ready destinations for data center developers and operators, and how WTCA Members can play an active role as connectors, facilitators and partners in that investment journey.

WTCA Free Zones Go Global

“In terms of return, a data center is fundamentally a real estate play,” said Martín Gustavo Ibarra, President and CEO of Araújo Ibarra International Business Consultants — WTCA’s partner organization behind the “Free Zones Go Global” initiative. “Data centers are a real estate business with the most concentrated value-added per square foot. When a city has a good data center system, it connects that city to the world and attracts high-value service industries like AI, fintech, cloud, and BPO.”

Built to deploy at scale

Modern AI workloads are driving facility requirements from legacy sizes to massive 200-megawatt and gigawatt-scale deployments, requiring immediate access to industrial land, pre-secured utility hookups, and underground fiber routes. Readiness varies by corridor, and power capacity in particular remains an active focus of government and private investment as Philippine zones compete for these larger, hyperscale-level deployments.

In the Philippines, World Trade Center Metro Manila (WTCMM) represents the local footprint of this global network. As WTCMM marks 30 years since opening in 1996, the organization is looking at how that network can extend beyond its Metro Manila home to support emerging economic zone opportunities. “As WTCMM marks 30 years of connecting the Philippines to global trade, we’re keeping a close watch on how the WTCA network could support Philippine economic zones as this next wave of investment takes shape,” said Pamela D. Pascual, Chairman and CEO of WTCMM, and WTCA Board Director.

Through its global network spanning over 300 WTC locations in nearly 100 countries and territories, WTCA continues to facilitate cross-border partnerships, connecting international technology firms, hyperscale developers, and capital sources with qualified economic zones worldwide.

APAC — As cybersecurity teams increasingly turn to artificial intelligence to manage growing security demands, Tenable is taking a collaborative approach to the challenge with the launch of the CyberAgents Exchange, an open-source platform designed to help security practitioners discover, share, and develop trusted AI-powered security components.

Powered by Tenable, the CyberAgents Exchange is positioned as a vendor-agnostic, cybersecurity-focused registry for AI agents, skills, MCP servers and multi-agent playbooks. The initiative aims to address a growing problem across the industry: security teams developing AI tools independently, often duplicating efforts and working within isolated or vendor-controlled environments.

Building a More Collaborative Cybersecurity Community

The CyberAgents Exchange is designed to break down those silos by creating a free-to-use environment where cybersecurity professionals can share and build agentic AI tools.

Trust and transparency are central to the platform. Users can access code-level information about an AI component, including who created it, when it was developed and whether it has received peer support. This gives security teams greater visibility as they evaluate and deploy components for their own environments.

The platform could also serve as a professional development resource, allowing practitioners to demonstrate experience with emerging AI technologies while building a portfolio of peer-supported security components.

For Seth Fogie, Director of Security at Baptist Memorial Health Care, the collaborative nature of the initiative is particularly important.

“The CyberAgents Exchange fills a major and pressing industry need, especially as cybersecurity remains a growing issue and AI-enabled attacks rise,” said Fogie. “Its core philosophy of working together is what made the threat intelligence community so invaluable. My team has benefited greatly from the Exchange, and we look forward to contributing and collaborating with the wider community.”

Industry Leaders Join as Founding Members

The initiative is also gaining support from established cybersecurity companies.

SentinelOne and Recorded Future have joined the CyberAgents Exchange as founding members, bringing expertise in autonomous security operations and threat intelligence to the emerging ecosystem. Both organizations are expected to contribute AI agents, integration frameworks and playbooks aimed at strengthening collective defenses against evolving AI-driven threats.

The launch also coincides with “SWARM: The Cybersecurity Agentic AI Build Event,” a hands-on, multi-day event taking place during Black Hat USA 2026. Sponsored by AWS and presented with support from Anthropic, the event gives security practitioners an opportunity to develop open-source security agents, skill files and MCP servers.

More Than 50 AI Components Already Available

The CyberAgents Exchange launches with more than 50 open-source AI components, giving security teams a starting point for experimenting with agentic cybersecurity workflows.

Among them is Navi, an agent that uses Tenable One Vulnerability Management APIs to automate common vulnerability-management and cyber-exposure workflows.

The Exchange also includes SentinelOne Purple AI, an MCP server that allows users to access SentinelOne services through an MCP client; Recorded Future MITRE APT Attack Path Analysis, which combines threat intelligence with Tenable findings to identify potentially exploitable attack-path nodes; and SOC-Hunter, a skill used by Tenable’s own security operations team for proactive, hypothesis-driven threat hunting.

Another offering, The Hounds Pack, provides a skill-packaged playbook built around 18 exposure-management specialists designed to hunt, tag and calibrate risk.

“Security Is a Team Sport”

For Tenable Chief Technology Officer Vlad Korsunsky, the initiative reflects a fundamental principle of cybersecurity: organizations are stronger when they work together.

“Security is a team sport. We’ve addressed a gaping hole in the ecosystem of AI Agents, built for defenders, by defenders. With the CyberAgents Exchange, we’re creating a collaborative ‘town square’ where cybersecurity practitioners can build, test, improve and share the best in agentic defense,” said Korsunsky.

He added that Tenable’s experience in open source, combined with its global customer and partner ecosystem, puts the company in a strong position to help develop the initiative and expand the capabilities of security teams.

SentinelOne also sees open collaboration as increasingly important as cyber threats become more autonomous.

“To truly scale defenses against autonomous, AI-driven threats, the security community must move past isolated development and vendor-locked silos,” said Braden Preston, vice president of product management, SentinelOne.

Recorded Future likewise emphasized that intelligence and trust need to remain at the heart of autonomous cybersecurity.

“Joining the CyberAgents Exchange as a founding member lets us bring world-class threat intelligence directly into the open-source frameworks security teams are building today,” said Jamie Zajac, Chief Product Officer at Recorded Future. “But the promise of AI agents in security depends entirely on whether they can be trusted.”

An Open Invitation to the Cybersecurity Community

The CyberAgents Exchange is available as a free, open-source community, with no fees for listing or using agents. The model is deliberately designed to encourage participation from security practitioners, technology companies and other members of the cybersecurity community.

As AI increasingly becomes part of both offensive and defensive cybersecurity, the industry’s challenge is moving beyond simply developing smarter tools. The bigger question is how those tools can be made trusted, transparent, reusable and collaborative.

Tenable’s CyberAgents Exchange represents one attempt to answer that challenge: rather than having every security team build its own AI capabilities from scratch, practitioners can contribute to a shared ecosystem where ideas, components and expertise can move faster.

In an environment where cyber threats themselves are becoming increasingly AI-enabled, collaboration may prove to be one of the industry’s most important defenses.

TAGUIG CITY, PHILIPPINES — To bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world industry demands, the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) and telecommunications giant Globe formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on July 28, 2026, at The Globe Tower in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Under the strategic alliance, Globe will serve as the official co-presenter of the PRSP Student Caravans—the flagship educational roadshow of PRSP that aims at upskilling communication and public relations students across the Philippines—as well as its culminating benchmark event, the National Student PR Congress & Grand Prix.

The partnership formalizes a shared commitment to equip young Filipino communicators with digital-first tools, ethical communication frameworks, and industry mentorship as they prepare to enter an evolving workforce.
